World of Lifting app

Find your crew without giving away where you live.

The clan map in the World of Lifting app shows where clans train, so you can find one near you. Here is how it keeps you and your clan safe.

Your location stays private

The app only asks for your approximate location, and only while you use it. It uses it on your phone to centre the map on you and, if you ask, to find your city. We never store it, and no clan can see where you are.

You can say no and still explore the whole map. You can change this any time in your phone's settings, or from Account options › Privacy & safety in the app.

Clan pins are approximate

A clan's pin covers an area about 1 km wide. When a Captain picks where the clan trains, our server moves the point to the centre of a fixed grid square before saving it. The exact point is never stored, so no pin leads to a front door.

What the Captain picks, and what everyone sees

The map also stops zooming in before street level, so a pin can't be read as an address.

Remote clans show cities, not people

A remote clan trains from different places. Each member can choose to add their city, never more precise than that. On the map a city is an unnamed dotjoined to the clan's other cities. Only members of your clan see your name next to your city.

Adding your city is optional. You can change or remove it any time, and it's deleted when you leave the clan.

Captains: pin your gym's area

Never your home. Pick the gym you train at, or a landmark near it. The pin is public: anyone signed in to the app can see the area and its name. You can move it once a week from Run the clan.

Meeting your clan for the first time

Meet at a gym or another public place, and tell a friend where you're going. Trust your instincts: you can leave a clan at any time.

Reporting a clan

If something in your clan feels wrong, like harassment, an offensive name or photo, or meetups that don't feel safe, open your clan's page and tap Report clanat the bottom. We review every report, and the rest of the clan won't know it was you.

Reports come from members, because they see what happens inside a clan. Seen a clan on the map that worries you? Email us at support@overloadapps.com.

If you think someone is in danger, contact your local emergency services first.
