World of Lifting app

Lifting should work for every lifter.

These are the accessibility options in the World of Lifting app for iPhone and Android, where to find them, and what we are still improving.

Where to find them:Account optionsAccessibility

Larger text

Choose Small, Default or Largetext in the app. The app also follows your phone's own text size setting, and applies both together, so Large in the app on top of a larger iOS or Android text size gets bigger still.

Dark mode

Pick Light, Dark or System in Account options. System follows your phone and switches with it automatically. Every color option below has its own light and dark version.

Color vision palettes

If you see red and green, or blue and yellow, differently, switch to a palette designed for it. Your choice recolors buttons, program and superset colors, calendars, charts and the muscle heat map, and takes effect straight away.

  • DefaultThe standard World of Lifting colors.
  • Red–greenFor protanopia and deuteranopia. Built on blue and ochre.
  • Blue–yellowFor tritanopia. Built on teal and magenta.
The three palettes, as the app shows them in your current theme

These are alternative palettes, not filters. Automated tests check each palette in light and dark: text against its background reaches a 4.5:1 contrast ratio, and chart and category colors reach 3:1. Photos and the backgrounds people choose for their posts keep their original colors.

Reduced motion

Turn on Reduce Motion on iPhone, or Remove animations on Android, and the app tones its motion down: the tab bar, the action button menus, personal-record count-ups, like bursts and loading shimmers become still or simple fades.

Readable fonts

Coming soon

Soon you will be able to switch the whole app to one of these fonts. Here is how each one looks:

What we are still working on

  • Screen readers. Many controls have spoken labels, but not every screen is fully usable with VoiceOver or TalkBack yet.
  • The largest text sizes. We are checking every screen at the biggest system text sizes so nothing gets cut off.
  • More readable fonts. You will be able to switch the app to OpenDyslexic, Lexend or Atkinson Hyperlegible. See previews.
